Maritime Heritage Festival

Oyez! Oyez! Come join in the fun.

On Sunday, September 13th from 1:30 to 3:00 pm. Nova Voce is performing in the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic Anchor Yard in the Maritime Heritage District, just across from HMCS Sackville, as we participate in the museum’s second annual Heritage Festival.

Bill Perrot, Nova Voce’s co-artistic director said, “Nova Voce is pleased to partner with the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic as part of the Maritime Heritage Festival. We look forward to sharing our Pirate Songs and Sea Shanties as well as our arrangement of Stan Rogers’ Bluenose, with the Bluenose II within sight across the boardwalk.”

Along with Rogers’ epic tune about our national seabound treasure, the audience can hear songs about the mischief and skulduggery wayward sailors and pirates can get up to: songs such as All for me Grog, the Ballad of Anne Bonny, the horrific tale of Fifteen Men on a Dead Man’s Chest, and What do you do with a Drunken Sailor.

The Maritime Heritage Festival features eight live music performance groups over the two-day festival. Jenny Nodelman, Marketing and Events Officer at the museum encourages everyone to come to the family-friendly event, from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, September 12th and 13th. It’s free!

Jenny is pleased to welcome Nova Scotia’s Provincial Men’s Choir back to the museum. Nova Voce performed in the museum’s Small Craft Gallery several years ago. The choir is performing from 1:30 to 3:00 pm on Sunday, September 13th.
