CELEBRATING 20 YEARS

Updated: Jan 18

2024 marks Nova Voce’s 20th anniversary.  Can you believe it?

Twenty years since Joe Renzi and Terry Hurrell, our founding artistic director, got a bunch of guys together in a church basement in Amherst, and from that very moment, became the province’s musical ambassadors.

Things have changed in the last two decades.  We’ve gained and lost members.  We’ve sung in several countries, in other Canadian provinces, recorded three albums, mentored a number of students, provided scholarships to male music students in Nova Scotia, and supported singers from both the provincial and national youth choirs as kept true to our aim of bringing male choral singing to as many places in Nova Scotia as we can.

To celebrate our twenty years, Nova Voce will be co-presenting a Milestone Performance in March, with the Halifax Gay Men’s Chorus.  HGMC is celebrating their 5th birthday this year!

There will be two milestone concerts at St. Andrews United Church at 6036 Coburg Road.    The first will be on Saturday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. and the second will be on Sunday, March 24th at 2:00 pm.  Tickets are $30 per person or $20 for students and the under waged.

This is important.  The tickets for this event will go on sale January 31st.  Nova Voce has a limited number of paper tickets for each concert, so if you need a paper ticket, get to your choir member as soon as possible!   Digital tickets will be available from HGMC.ca. We anticipate these performances will sell out quickly, so don’t delay.

We hope to see you there!  Remember, if you prefer purchasing paper tickets from a Nova Voce choir member, please reach out as early as you are able.  Unsold paper tickets will be added to the on-line ticket availability if they are not sold.  There will be no tickets available for sale at the door for this concert.

We look forward to seeing you there!
