When he was 17, Richard’s mom shipped him off to the Outward Bound Wilderness School in northern Ontario. Required to spend four days alone in a lean-to on the shore of a remote lake, he passed the time – and kept the bears away – by singing the entire scores of Guys and Dolls and West Side Story, at the top of his lungs. Today, Richard remains a lover of musical theatre. A journalist and writer, he works as an editor at The Canadian Encyclopedia and is the author of the 2013 investigative book, Driven: How the Bathurst Tragedy Ignited a Crusade for Change. Richard is thrilled (and amazed) that he gets to sing with the talented men of Nova Voce.
